BUILDING A BETTER RIDE ON I-95

Four new 95 Express Lanes access ramps are now open along I-95 in the Fredericksburg area.

Northbound ramp at Route 17

Local traffic entering I-95 northbound from Route 3 in Fredericksburg and Route 17 in Stafford seeking to enter the northbound 95 Express Lanes can use a new flyover ramp that connects with the local lanes near the Route 17 interchange.

 

Reversible Ramp at Old Courthouse Road

When 95 Express Lane traffic is northbound, motorists can use the ramp to join the Express Lanes from Old Courthouse Road.

When 95 Express Lane traffic is southbound, motorists can use the ramp to exit from 95 Express Lanes to Old Courthouse Road.

 

Two Ramps Near Quantico

In addition, two ramps are open near Exit 148 (Quantico).

From 95 Express Lanes north, motorists can exit to the I-95 northbound general purpose lanes near Russell Road.

From I-95 south, motorists can join the 95 Express Lanes south, just after Exit 148.

Express Lanes and Local Lanes Opening

A 10-mile extension of the 95 Express Lanes opened on Aug. 17, 2023, from just south of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) to near Route 17 (Warrenton Road) in Stafford County.

95 Express Lane Access

I-95 northbound traffic in the Fredericksburg area is now divided into a local and through lane pattern near the Rappahannock River, between the exit 130 (Route 3) and exit 133 (Route 17) interchanges.

I-95 northbound travelers approaching from points south of the Route 3 interchange in Fredericksburg can enter 95 Express Lanes using a left ramp entrance near the Route 17 interchange. Local traffic from Route 3 and Route 17 entering I-95 northbound now flows directly in the local lanes. Route 3 and Route 17 traffic seeking to enter the northbound Express Lanes will use a new flyover ramp that connects with the local lanes near the Route 17 interchange beginning early Friday morning, Dec. 8.

Southbound Express Lanes travelers are now able to drive an additional 10 miles south in the extended facility to the Route 17 area. Exiting southbound Express Lanes travelers can enter local I-95 southbound travel lanes near the Rappahannock River to access the Route 17 or Route 3 interchanges or continue in the I-95 southbound through travel lanes.
